We are taking part in Open Up 2024!

Students from the Portraits and Paint and Draw classes will be displaying and selling their work on both weekends of the Open Up event. Alongside them will be their tutor, Su Bodnar, exhibiting her own work and doing portrait demos. Do come and have a look and a chat.

November 2023

Our resident artist, Ariana, is showing her screenprinted tea towels and cards as part of the Handmade for Christmas craft exhibition at Sheffield's Millennium Gallery this winter. 

Handmade showcases the work of 50 local makers and is the perfect place to pick up a unique Christmas gift. It runs until 24th December - find out more.

May 2023

Hangingwater Studio is taking part in Open Up this spring - a chance to see artists' work in studio settings. The local artists showing their work at Hangingwater are abstract painter Ranaa Farooq, landscape painter Anne Atkinson, woodworker Bryan Munsey and portrait painter (and one of our tutors ) Su Bodnar.

Su, one of our tutors, has had her self-portrait accepted for inclusion in the 'Meet the Locals' exhibition at Fronteer Gallery, Sheffield. Opening night is Wednesday 8th February, 6 - 7.30pm. Come along and meet the artists! All welcome. See flyer opposite for more details.

November 2022

Gill, one of our tutors, is showing this little painting alongside many wonderful pieces of artwork, jewellery and ceramics at the Cupola Christmas show entitled ‘We Called Yesterday, Today’. So if you fancy treating yourself or someone else to any art over the festive season then take a trip down to the Cupola Gallery, 178 Middlewood Road, Sheffield S6 1TD.

Opening event, which is open to all, is Friday 25 November 7.30-9.30pm. The show continues until 7 Jan 2023.

October 2022

Ariana, who tenants the smaller studio space at Hangingwater, has recently produced a series of Christmas decorations and cards for the V&A Museum shop in London. 

The wooden hanging decorations are made from sustainably forested birch plywood in three festive designs - Hare, Cracker and Dove. She has also designed a matching Christmas card; all of which can be bought online from the V&A Shop.
